How abilities work in College Football 27

Abilities are the perks that make a player feel different on the field in CFB27. A receiver with a gold route runner ability gets open when he shouldn't. A pass rusher with the right ability wins more one on ones. Each ability has four tiers. Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum. Higher tiers do more and cost more.

What it takes to unlock one

Two things. The player's rating has to hit a number, and you have to spend XP. Take 360 for a running back. Bronze needs 83 spin move and costs 3 XP. Gold needs 87 and costs 7. Platinum needs 89. That's why the same ability shows up on some players and not others. The rating gate stops them.

Physical versus mental abilities

Physical abilities are tied to a position and an archetype. A power back gets a different list than a receiving back. Mental abilities work for anyone and mostly cover things like composure and how a player handles pressure.

How to use this page

Pick a position on the left, then the archetype. Tap any ability to see what each tier does, what rating it needs and what it costs. Use the search box if you already know the name. This is every ability in CFB27, so if you're deciding between two recruits with different archetypes, look up what each one can unlock before you commit.
